SpicaBear joined TCEX 2026 as WakaStudio continued expanding from game development into character-driven stories, animation, and original IP.
Not every WakaStudio event appearance begins with a game controller.
Sometimes it begins with a bear.
On July 9–12, 2026, SpicaBear joined Thailand Character & Content Expo, or TCEX, as part of WakaStudio’s growing work in original character IP.
For our team, this event represented a different kind of milestone.
Most of our exhibition history has been connected to games: demos, playable builds, multiplayer sessions, and people discovering creative new ways to break systems we thought were stable.
TCEX gave us the opportunity to focus on something else: the character itself.
SpicaBear is being developed as more than a single illustration or mascot.
The character belongs to a wider universe of ideas that WakaStudio is exploring through short-form animation, storytelling, visual development, merchandise concepts, and future media projects.
At the center of SpicaBear is a simple emotional idea.
SpicaBear is curious, warm, occasionally clumsy, and willing to keep moving even when the path ahead is uncertain.
That personality gives us room to tell stories that can be playful without becoming empty, and comforting without becoming overly sweet.
The character does not need to be the strongest person in the room.
Sometimes being brave simply means trying again.
A character-focused event like TCEX is valuable because it changes the questions we ask as creators.
When we develop a game, we often ask:
What does the player do?
What is the gameplay loop?
How does this system support the experience?
When we develop a character IP, the questions become different.
What does someone feel when they see this character?
Can they recognize the silhouette immediately?
Can the personality survive across animation, merchandise, print, digital media, and future collaborations?
Those questions are just as important, and TCEX is exactly the kind of environment where they matter.
For WakaStudio, expanding into character IP is not a departure from game development. It is another way to build worlds and create emotional connections with audiences.
Games allow people to participate in a world.
Characters can stay with people outside that world.
The most exciting possibility is finding ways for those two strengths to meet.
TCEX 2026 gave SpicaBear another place to begin that journey.
From concept art to animation.
From animation to merchandise.
From Thailand to new audiences.
There is still a long way to go, but every journey needs a first few steps.
SpicaBear has started walking.
